Can You Control Stress, Only If You Do Certain Things

stressCan we really control stress, well the simple answer is YES but as you will see below there are a few things you need to do first. The first thing we have to do, and few of us realize it, is recognize stress happening. Most people are in denial about how stress is affecting their brains, as a result, most people don’t know they are stressed until they have a panic attack or even worse they suffer with major health issues.

Step one to managing stress: Notice stress.

Your first step, admit that your stressed and its out of control. Stress is not a bad thing; it is your brain trying to tell you something needs your attention. If you ignore your amygdala, the alarm in your brain will send more and more adrenaline until it knows you’ve got whatever needs your focus handled.

Step two to managing stress: Admit you are stressed.

When you admit that you feel stressed, you can then choose to focus on what’s most important to you in that moment.SHEILA-copy1Take steps to find out what may be causing you stress and then you can address it in an easier way. I know what you may be thinking, That’s easy for you to say… Well yes and no, i have been there myself but i was lucky to find someone as amazing as the Master Instructor Sheila Dickinson.

You see I had health problems before I was teaching Tai Chi, it was sheila that help sort not just my health but my life as well. Because of that my life has changed for the better, and I know get to help other people with their health problems using these amazing arts.

Step three to managing stress: Focus on one thing you want to think or feel.

Any one reading this article may be sitting there saying well you would say do LFA Tai Chi because you teach it, well yes but only because it works and thats the simple truth. You cant get rid of stress by someone else doing the work for you, the simple fact is that you need to sort the tension levels of the mind and then work on the rest, our form of Tai Chi works different to other styles of Tai Chi as its based on chinese medicine just the same as acupuncture, but that is just a small portion of what we use to help people sort their stress out.

The twist, of course, is that if you’ve been through a trauma or a chronically stressful situation or environment, you may not be able to instantly shift from stress to thinking or feeling what you want in the moment. The simple fact is you need to start somewhere and starting to work on yourself first is a major step in the right direction.
